Whenever I talk with past, current, or potential clients the conversation inevitably steers toward how they might do things differently — simplify the work they already do online, use new media to reach new audiences, or simply stay ahead of the ever-shifting curve of online activity and technology.

A lot is going on in our little neck of the Web and I thought it might be useful to share this conversation online. Given that 2006 marks new media for nonprofits' eighth year (!), I thought something a little different was in order. And so, this e-news update.

Info and intros about fresh initiatives, recent projects, expanded services and new talent follows. As always, please don't hesitate to contact me for any reason. I welcome your comments and feedback!

 new media initiative: IssueLab
IssueLab - bringing nonprofit research into focus

We all know that too much research being done by nonprofits just doesn't get the visibility or shelf life that it deserves. What's lacking? A central place that focuses on the tremendous body of work produced by the nonprofit sector. IssueLab is here to change all that by making it simple for advocates, students, policy makers, funders and the media to tap into this comprehensive body of research.

Currently in soft-launch, IssueLab needs you! Please add your research. Getting started is fast, easy and free. In return for your efforts, you get: increased exposure of your research works; wider dissemination of your analysis and findings; greater awareness of your organization as an expert in your field; more opportunities to build interest around your issues; and, stronger connections to an audience interested in what you do and looking for analysis like yours.

key service gets better: Content management made easy!

Bill Ayers Blogspot

Spotlight: Bill Ayers blogs! This past winter we had the good fortune to partner with Bill Ayers, Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago, to create the new billayers.org. Bill needed a web presence that communicated his work and sensibility while giving him full control without the need for web-editing skills. Just launched in March, the site is a work in progress — as is the way of the Web. Find out what this long-time radical has to say about the state of education, teaching for social change, and, as you would expect from Bill, lots more!

And....

go MacArthur Research Network on Adolescent Development and Juvenile Justice. A newly retooled site interface and content organization coupled with custom content management tools make it easier to learn about the Network and its important research.

go The Education Resources Institute (TERI) College Access Scholarship Database. A brand new online resource helping Massachusetts students locate hard-to-find local/state college scholarship info.
